Martha F. Johnson

Martha Frances Johnson was born October 13, 1925 in Freeport, IL, to the late Robert and Annie (Love) Bruce. She was called home to rest on Tuesday February 16, 2016. Martha came to know Christ at an early age, and joined Second Baptist Church of Freeport, then later joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport. Martha was a member of the Eastern Star. She married Otha Johnson on July 31, 1943; he died January 18, 2003. In their union were born seven children. She worked at Honeywell-Micro Switch for over 25 years before retiring. She leaves to cherish her memories with four sons, Otha (Alberta) Johsnon, Jr. of Seattle, WA, Terrence (Earlene) Johnson of Henderson, NV, Kevin (Dorthea) Johnson of Las Vegas, NV, and Tracy (Raylette) Johnson of Lewisville, TX; three daughters, Frances (George) Whitehead of Arlington Heights, IL, Karlene Johnson of Freeport, IL, and Twila Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; and one special daughter Vanessa Washington (Bishop Washington) of Rockford, IL; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Otha Johnson, parents, four brothers, and two sisters. A special thank you to her care givers: Lauren Wright, Betty and Vincent X, and Terrine Piggue. The family also wishes to thank all of her cousins and friends that came to visit, and FHN Hospice for their assistance in helping our mother. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday February 27, 2016 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, and from noon until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
