Marlene Jean Brokhausen

December 5, 1933 — July 19, 2020

Marlene Jean (Baker) Brokhausen went to be home with the Lord, from her home in Rockford, Illinois on Sunday July 19, 2020. Marlene was born December 5, 1933, the daughter of Theodore R. and Dorothy E. (Cook) Baker in Freeport. Marlene was a 1951 graduate of Freeport High School. She married William (Bill) Brokhausen on July 15, 1951 in Freeport. Marlene spent time with her husband in Belleville, Illinois, Fayetteville, North Carolina and Waco, Texas, while he completed his tour of duty with the U.S. Air Force. Marlene enjoyed family summer vacations at the lakes in Northern Wisconsin, and after retirement the winter trips to southern Texas to visit her sister and her husband, Phyllis and Don Mullarkey. Marlene moved to Rockford in 1980, when her husband transferred to Honeywell Motors. Marlene worked for the Winnebago Center for the blind, teaching swimming and other related activities. She also taught some local children to swim in her home pool. Surviving is her husband, Bill Brokhausen of Rockford; seven daughters, Debra (Paul) Wilke of Houston Texas, Sherri (Dick) Marsh of Freeport, Marsha Hammond of Crystal Lake, Lisa (Dan) Landsee of Roscoe, and triplets, Lori (Dan) Raisbeck of Mt. Horeb, WI., Sara Garst of Rockford, and Cathy Porter of Rockford; and one son, Todd (Chris) Brokhausen of Winnebago. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchild. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Phyliss, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday July 24, 2020 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Rev. Dawn Barr will officiate. Visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
