Marjorie L. Wilhelms

Marjorie L. Wilhelms, 88, of Freeport, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at F.H.N. Memorial Hospital. Marjorie was born on August 2, 1926 in Ridott, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Ida (Ackerman) Fairbairn. Marjorie married LeRoy "Willie" Wilhelms on August 15, 1942 in Hannibal, Missouri. Mr. Wilhelms passed away on July 29, 2001. Marjorie was a member of First Baptist Church where she was in the Church Choir and was a bell ringer. She was also a member Stephenson County Home Extension Center. Marjorie worked at Micro Switch, Freeport Journal Standard and Freeport High School. In her free time Marjorie enjoyed cooking for her family and Church functions. Surviving are three sons, Lyle G. (Darlene) Wilhelms of Rockford, Gale E. (Linda) Wilhelms of Ridott, and Darrell L. (Carol) Wilhelms of Freeport; daughter, Sharon Balles of Freeport; nine grandchildren, Lana Roberts, Doreen Yates (Rick), DeAnn (Matt) Jennings, Keith (Emily) Wilhelms, Susan Albert, Tammy (Jon) Thomas, Christopher (Renee) Wilhelms, Bradley (Sarah) Wilhelms, and David (Vanessa) Wilhelms. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, three sisters, son-in-law, James Balles; grandson-in-law, Craig Albert, and great-grandson, Adam Yates. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 28, 2015 at First Baptist Church. Rev Caleb Kolstad and Rev. Kurt Strong will officiate. Visitation will be Friday 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established for First Baptist Church, Bible Community Church and All Veterans Memorial Park in her memory.
