Mario Sabini

Mario Sabini, 70, of Freeport, died at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, Illinois on November 22, 2018 after an extended illness. Mario was born in Avezzano, Italy on September 11, 1948. He immigrated to the United States when he was a child. He lived at St. Vincent Home for children in Freeport, Illinois until he became an adult. Mario worked in maintenance at the campus of St. Joseph Nursing Home in Freeport until he retired. Mario loved his hometown of Freeport. He was a "people person" and enjoyed talking & visiting with people he knew. He was a passionate sports fan and loved discussing and watching his favorite teams: Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks, Notre Dame Football, and NASCAR. You could often find Mario fishing on the Pecatonica River. Mario touched a lot of lives and will be missed. He was preceded in death by his lifelong friend James Keister. Visitation will be from 3-5:00 P.M. Thursday, November 29th at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. A memorial service will follow the visitation.
