Marilyn "Mandy" E. Woods

Marilyn E. "Mandy" Woods, 94, of Freeport, died Sunday December 24, 2017 at Parkview Home. Marilyn was born October 18, 1923 in Freeport, the daughter of Donald W. and Esther (Dresser) Phillips. She married Warren C. "Buck" Woods on October 24, 1942. Mr. Woods passed away February 14, 1984. Marilyn was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where she was active in the Altar Guild for many years, Freeport Junior Amity and Freeport Garden Club. She worked at C.H. Little & Company and then at LeBaron and Ruckman Furniture as a decorating consultant before retiring in 1983. Surviving are her two daughters, Cathie (George) Hoffman of Freeport and Stephanie (David) Matthews of Evansville, IN; five grandchildren, Eric (Olwyn) Hanson, Kirsten (Michael) Laurie, Paige Hanson, Alison (Joe) Sampson, and Dylan (Susan) Matthews; nine great-grandchildren, Aidan and Fitzgerald Laurie, Maggie and Andrew Sampson, Finn and Bennett Matthews, and Patrick, Letty, and Michael Hanson; sister-in-law, Helen Woods Milligan; Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband. The family wishes to thank Parkview Home and FHN Hospice for their attentive care. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday December 29, 2017 at Grace Episcopal Church. Fr. Tom Rosa will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials have been established for Grace Episcopal Church and FHN Hospice in Marilyn's memory.
