Marilyn M. Nelson

Marilyn M. Nelson, 91, of Freeport, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Park View Home and now has a "new address". Marilyn was born May 15, 1933 in rural Stephenson County, near Rock City, IL to Alvin and Esther (Toelke-Otte) Koch. She was a 1951 Dakota High School graduate. Marilyn married Merle Nelson on June 21, 1953. They enjoyed camping trips with friends, Colorado trips that included hiking in the mountains, many trips to Florida, and special rescue kitties. Merle preceded her in death in November of 2002. Marilyn spent 33 years as an executive secretary at W. T. Rawleigh Company in Freeport. She was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church.

Marilyn is survived by her niece Kenalyn (Jerry) Hyland and nephew Gregory (Carmela) Koch, a host of cherished nephews and nieces, Great and Great great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Merle, parents Alvin and Esther Koch, brothers and sister-in-laws, Marvin and Lucille Koch and Eldon and Rae Jean Koch, and her sister-in-law Millie Nelson.

Cremation rites were accorded. Visitation and a memorial service for Marilyn will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL. Visitation will be at 10 AM with a Memorial service following at 11 AM. Marilyn joins her husband, Merle, at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport.

Her family would like to thank Park View Home for caring for Marilyn with such kindness and respect. She truly loved you. Also, thank you to her dear friend, Carol Mehlhausen, who was always there for Marilyn and then her family. You're greatly appreciated and loved.
