Marilyn M. Leopold, 80, of Freeport, and a long time Cedarville resident, died peacefully Saturday August 19, 2017. She was born September 9, 1936 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Edward and Virginia (Jannsen) Bigelow. Marilyn married Paul E. Leopold August 27, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport. Marilyn was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She enjoyed competitive card playing, jigsaw puzzles, and following the Chicago White Sox. Her famous rhubarb cake and potato salad were always requested at all family gatherings. Life gave her many health challenges and she never let them get her down. Her faith sustained her. Marilyn is survived by her husband Paul Leopold of Freeport, IL; four daughters Karen (Steve) Dougherty and Rose (Rick) Bear both of Freeport, IL Teresa (Kathy) Leopold of Beloit, WI, and Lisa (Joe) Pettit of Cedarville, IL; her brother Richard (Sue) Bigelow of Palmetto, FL; her sister Diane Mayhew of Florida; her grandchildren Chris Dougherty, Mark (Linda) Dougherty, Ryan (Kristi) Bear, Nicole (Erik) Aspenson, Tony Pettit, Mike (Courtney Blair) Pettit, and Sierra Pettit; and her great-grandchildren Laken Bear, Tyler Aspenson, Avery Aspenson, and Harper Bear. She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Petta, and her brother Edward (Junior) Bigelow, Jr. Private family services will be held.
