Marilyn M. Krell, 92, of Freeport, died Thursday December 13, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Home. Marilyn was born March 20, 1926 in Freeport, the daughter of Kenneth and Marjorie (Howe) Hoak. She married Joe Engles in 1945; she then married Darius Krell in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1958. Mr. Krell passed away in 1981. She worked at the Lanark Grade School for many years as a secretary as well as the Lanark Telephone Company; for Dr. B. Lambos, and as a manager at Highland Meadows in Lanark. Marilyn was a member of Crossroads Community Church. Surviving are her son, Scott (Sue) Krell of Freeport; daughter, Alana (Darwin) O' Riley of Casselberry, Florida; two step-daughters, Emily (Rick) Horath of Normal, Illinois and Beverly (Virden) Sapp Grays Lake, Illinois; grandchildren, Aaron O'Riley, Justin (Susie) O'Riley, and Drew O'Riley, Alex (Brianna) Krell, Max Krell, Mark (Kirsten) Sapp, Brian (Leigh) Sapp, Michelle (Brian) Salm, Lisa (Jason) Selders, Amanda (Luke) Atherton and Megan Horath. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, June Shank. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday December 18, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Chaplain Jerry Gruhn will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Lanark Cemetery.
