Marie Ackerman

Marie S. Ackerman, 92, of Freeport, died Friday September 19, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born August 7, 1922 in Stephenson County, IL, the daughter of Frank and Ella (Schleich) Klever. Marie married Edwin Ackerman January 25, 1947 in Freeport, IL; he died May 10, 1993. Marie was a farm wife, homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Zion Church. Family was a very important part of her life. She enjoyed her cats and garden. Marie is survived by her daughter Joyce (Richard) Guinther of Freeport, IL; her granddaughter Kristine Guinther of Freeport, IL; also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters Myrtle Moss, and Elsie Klever; and one nephew. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 23, 2014 at Zion Church with Pastor Gardy Cronk officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in her memory.
