Margaret "Pegg" Ann Myers, 86, of Freeport, died Tuesday August 22, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born March 6, 1931 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Harry and Margaret (Roche) Myers. Margaret graduated from Freeport public schools, Michigan State University (B.A. degree), and University of Wisconsin (M.S. degree) in speech communication disorders. She spent four years in Roseville Michigan public schools setting up speech correction program before resuming her career in the Rockford public schools for 35 years as a speech language therapist. Upon retiring she spent time as and aide in Taylor Park schools and participated in adult literacy program at Highland Community College. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she was a member of the retiree group. She was also a member of the Children's Aide Society of Illinois, board member of the Sleezer Youth Home, Park Hills Ladies Nine Hole Golf Club, and local bridge clubs. Margaret is survived by her brother Jack Myers of Freeport, IL; three nephews; Kelly Myers, and Casey (Brenda) Myers both of Freeport, IL and Rory Myers of Phoenix, Arizona her niece Tami (Robert) Lawson of Freeport six great nephews, and two great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
