M. Thomas Bordner, 84, of Freeport, died Monday, August 29, 2011 in his home. Tom was born July 24, 1927 to T. J. and Beatrice (Thomas) Bordner. Tom served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 in the Philippines. Tom married Patricia Ann Sellke on April 23, 1949. He owned and operated Bordner Ice Cream for many years. He retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Co. in 1989 after 25 years of service. In his retirement the Bordner's traveled from Alaska to Mexico in their motor home. They also enjoyed many casino trips. Tom was a member of Kelly-Springfield Retirees Club, VFW, Eagles Club and a former member of the Elks Club. He is survived by his wife, Pat, and three daughters; Vicki (James) Bradley of Mound, MN, Lynne (Dennis) Scofield and Lisa (William) Coppernoll of Freeport. Also surviving are six granddaughters; Jamie (Jason) Marshall of Minnetrista, MN, Amy (Greg) Penticoff, Rachel (Troy) Stewart, Katie Klecker, Shannon Gorham, and Keelie Oswalt all of Freeport and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 6 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great- grandchildren, one niece, five nephews, and brother-in-law George Rolinger. Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Eleanore Rolinger and Jean Burke. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday September 1, 2011 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home with Rev. John Hollis officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. also at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Afolkey Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Mr. Bordner'™s memory.
