Lynn A. Meyer, 73, of Freeport, died Sunday June 3, 2012 at his home in Freeport with his family at his side. Lynn was born on October 12, 1938 in Freeport at St. Francis Hospital the son of Lawrence and Theresa (Davis) Meyer. Shortly after his birth his mother died. When Lynn was released from the hospital he was taken to the home of Lawrence'™s brother and his wife, Ray and Mary (Shiffer) Meyer who later adopted him. Lynn attended school at Lena High School followed by joining the United State Air Force in 1956. After basic training he went to jet mechanic training in Amarillo, Texas. From there he was transferred to Alexandria Air Force Base where he met and married the true love of his life Sue Ellen Price. They were married on June 28, 1958 at St. John'™s Catholic Church in Deville, Louisiana. They moved to Williams Air Force base in the Phoenix area until his enlistment was up. Lynn worked for Myers Ford for a short time and later Sanford and Zartman before entering the construction business. Along with his sub contractors he began the development of Cherokee Hills. They did this in phases and when one phase was near completion they would begin the next. Lynn loved his work and many nights he would be doing dirt work after dark. Despite several health setbacks Lynn worked until 2006. Lynn was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Freeport. Survivors include his wife of 54 years; Sue Ellen Meyer of Freeport, three daughters; Diana Meyer of Pineville, LA., Kathleen (Ray) Belgard of Deville, LA and Lana Jo (Bart) Knutson. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Bobby, Jacob and Dillon Belgard and Brock and Clint Knutson. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and two sons; Donald R. Meyer on November 10, 1959 and Robert D. Meyer on January 6, 1991. His biological mother and father; Lawrence and Theresa (Davis) Meyer; his adopted mother and father Ray and Mary (Shiffer) Meyer. One brother Earl Meyer and sisters; Ruth (Milt) Klaas and Dolores Meyer. His aunt and uncle; Andrew and Marie (Berlaugh) Meyer; and his aunt Theresa (Meyer) Talbert. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday June 7, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Camacho officaitng. Visitation will be Wednesday 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at St. Joseph.
