Lynelle Thurman

Lynelle (Brooks) Thurmond, 46, departed this earthly life on Saturday November 30, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. Lynelle (Brooks) Thurmond was born on September 26, 1967 to James Wesley and Jenny Brooks. She was employed at the YMCA for many years. Lynelle enjoyed spending time with her children and her one granddaughter. She enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Mike Thurman; mother Jenny Brooks; two sons De'angelo Brooks, and Shaquille Thurman; her daughter Petite Thurman; her granddaughter Geniyah Leonard all of Freeport; two sisters Cynthia Bluett of Atlanta, GA, and Calene Bluett of Freeport, IL; her brother Jason Brooks of Freeport, IL; her special friends Aretha Braxton and Mike Jackson; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and her special cousin Kameshia Brooks. She was preceded in death by her father James Wesley Brooks; grandparents Hattie Williams, Kathleene Bluett; her nephew Terrance Griffin; two aunts Elizabeth "Jance" Brooks and Celestiny Shipp; and two uncles Scottie Williams and James Henry Brooks. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday December 6, 2013 at seventh Day Adventist Church 3511 U.S. 20 Business west Freeport, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. A memorial has been established in her memory.
