Lynda J. Erving, 63, Freeport, IL; departed this life Sunday, July 26, 2015, in Rockford, IL, at the Rockford Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Lynda was born to Fred and Audrey (Baker) Little on July 20, 1952 in Bessemer, Alabama and she was the youngest daughter. She attend Carver Elementary and Carver High School in Alabama. Lynda confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Beulah Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend E. L. Chandler in Alabama. Recently she became a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Charles Threadgill, Jr. presides as pastor. Lynda worked for many years at Thermos and later at Newell until she was forced into early retirement due to health issues. Her devotion to her family and friends gave her the most contentment. She enjoyed watching soaps, listening to loud music and most of all cooking for her family. Lynda leaves to cherish her memories: four sons, Terry Collins, Terence Green, Cecil Taylor, all of Freeport; and Michael Visger, Lena, IL. Four daughters, Angela Brown, Annetta Brown, Amanda Hendricks, all of Freeport; and Ilicia Brown, Maywood, IL. One sister, Peggy Cooper, Bessemer, Alabama; three sister-in-laws, Linda (Barnell) Shorter, Loretta (Garland) Pruitt, Freeport and Lynnellen Peterson, Rockford, IL. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and some very special friends and you know who you are. Play sister, Lucy Maupino and Goddaughter, LaTrice Newton. Lynda was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband, Curtis Erving.
