Lyle H. Wilken

Lyle H. Wilken, 61, of Forreston, IL passed away Tuesday May 2, 2023 in his home. He was born September 7, 1961 in Freeport, IL, the son of Dale and Leona (Albert) Wilken. On October 20, 1984 he married Penny Kessler in Adeline, IL. Lyle was a member of Adeline Zion Evangelical Church. Coaching in Forreston was really important to Lyle, especially middle school football, which he coached from 2000-2016. He was also involved with the Forreston Athletic Program for 16 years. Lyle enjoyed playing golf and slow pitch softball. His greatest enjoyment in life was the time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Penny of Forreston; parents Dale and Leona Wilken of German Valley, IL; two sons Josh (Allyson) Wilken of German Valley, IL and Lucas (Stephanie) Wilken of Forreston, IL; daughter Rebekah (Corey Wagner ) Wilken of Tiffin, IA; brother Keith (Jan Reuber) of German Valley, IL; sister Beverly Wilken of German Valley, IL; five grandchildren Leon, Bryant, Isaiah, Addison, and Brooklyn; father and mother-in-law Stuart and Patricia Kessler of Mt. Morris, IL; two brother-in-law’s Dennis (Kerry) Kessler and Scott (Sherri Samsel) Kessler; and two nieces and two nephews.

He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his granddaughter Maya.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday May 9, 2023 at Adeline Zion Evangelical Church with Rev. Larry Jameson officiating. A visitation will be held Monday May 8, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston. Burial will be in Adeline Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Forreston Athletic Boosters.
