Lyle F. Sandell

Lyle F. Sandell, 82, of Freeport, passed away, Tuesday February 26, 2019 at the Stephenson Nursing Center. Lyle was born September 28, 1936 in Rock Falls, Illinois, the son of Frederick and Evelyn (Stern) Sandell. Lyle married Mariel Kaney in 1980. Mariel died November 22, 2004. Lyle proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Freeport Pilots Association and Experimental Aircraft Association. Lyle worked in sales for both Snap-on and Mac Tools. He enjoyed wood carving and traveling the country with Mariel. Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne (David) Ludwig of Forreston and Roxanne (Brad) Lomax of German Valley; brother, Robert (Sherry) Sandell of Rockton; sister, Shirley Cobb of Mt. Dora, Florida; five grandchildren, Ryan (Mandy) Ludwig of Machesney Park, Rob (Lindsay) Ludwig of Rockford, Amber Fager of Machesney Park, Allison (Aaron) Lawler of Dakota, and Drew Everts of German Valley; and six great-grandchildren, Aryanna, Elle, Emery, Carter, Presley, and Remi. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, LeRoy. A gathering for friends and family will take place 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday March 1, 2019 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Cremation rites have been accorded.
