Luella Mae Dykstra Prins

Luella Mae Dykstra Prins 85, formerly of Freeport, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Resthave Retirement Home in Morrison, Illinois. Luella was born on July 8, 1926 in East Clinton, Illinois, the daughter of Garrett and Kate (Buikema) Housenga. On April 27, 1944 Luella married Jacob Dykstra. Luella and Jacob lived in Stephenson County for over 30 years. Mr. Dykstra died August 4, 1993. Luella then married Elmer Prins on October 1, 1994 in Morrison. Luella was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison and a former member of Community Reformed Church in Freeport where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women'™s Guild. Luella enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, baby sitting and spending time with all of her family. Survivors include husband; Elmer Prins, of Morrison; daughter; Linda (Jerry) Schlegel of Morrison; three sons; Steve (Connie) Dykstra of Freeport, Bruce (Denise) Dykstra of Freeport, and Rick Dykstra of Freeport, her daughter-in-law Patricia Dykstra of Morrison three stepdaughters; Marilyn (Arlyn) Tichler of Morrison, Patricia Huisenga of Albany, and Diane (Dion) Merema of Rockford. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren; Tim (Sarah) Schlegel, Todd (Christine) Schlegel, Eric (Jessica) Schlegel, Shawn Dykstra, Darren Dykstra, Scott (Maggie)Dykstra, Brian(Alexis) Dykstra, Kristy (Nick) Gill and Michael Dykstra; 5 step-grandsons; Brian Tichler, Ed( Jennifer) Huisenga, Ryan Huisenga, Daniel and Derrick Merema and 18 great-grandchildren. Luella was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, her son Richard Dykstra, her grandson, Chad Allan Dysktra, Seven sisters and five brothers. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Community Reformed Church in Freeport. Visitation will be Monday 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
