Lloyd H Reel

Lloyd H. Reel, 93, a resident of Lena Living Center and former Freeport resident died Friday at Lena Living Center. He was born September 5, 1917 in Lena, Illinois the son of Harry and Frances (Krause) Reel. Lloyd married Charlene Smith on October 10, 1945 in Santa Ana, California. She died January 11, 1976. Lloyd married Doris M. Donahue March 18, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She died April 21, 1996. Mr. Reel was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran. He was a Navigator on B-17 aircraft, serving with the 8th Air Force in England. Lloyd worked for many years as Route Supervisor for Union Dairy Farms and later worked as a real estate agent. Lloyd was a member of Saint John United Church of Christ. V.F. W., A.M.V.E.T.S. and the Lena Historical Society. Lloyd enjoyed following sports, especially the Cubs and Bears. Mr. Reel is survived by Nephews and Nieces and his special friend Margie Scholtz of Lena. He was preceded in death by both his wives, his son David H. Reel in 1975, Four brothers, Morris, Veryl, Elmer and Edwin 'Pete' Reel. Two sisters, Margaret Flower and Veda Ludolph. Funeral service for Mr. Reel will be Wednesday, 1:00 P.M. in Saint John United Church of Christ, Freeport. Rev. Donnley Dutcher, pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday,12:00 P.M. until time of service in the church. A memorial has been established in his name. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport.
