Lisa M. MacQueen passed away June 13, 2023, at FHN hospital after a brief illness. She was born on February 28th, 1978 to Randall T. MacQueen and Melodie (Veer) Strong.
She attended Freeport Schools and Highland Community College where she studied Accounting. Years after being told she could not have children due to a health condition, she gave birth to her only child, Katrina Randy Rose MacQueen. She called her "My miracle child.". Lisa will surely be remembered for her unique and hilarious sense of humor, and her love of dramatic storytelling, whether humorous, scary, or just a great relaying of information in an entertaining manner. Lisa also loved to spend time with children and entertain them with stories and lots of silliness! The activities that she enjoyed were singing, dancing, watching her favorite show, Supernatural, and joking around. Even when she wasn't feeling well, she wanted to be able to make others laugh and feel good. Every day she was scheduled to work, she would call in with a wild story as to why she couldn't come to work, as a joke to her boss, who was also her aunt. She was known for her kindness and care for the customers at Shell, and they often enquired about her after she became ill. She was employed by the Johnson Oil Company and enjoyed working at Shell Express Lanes in Freeport.
Lisa is survived by her parents, daughter, Katrina, sister Angil Macqueen, grandparents, Ernie and Shirley Veer, several aunts and uncles, and many cousins. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Nicholas Peterson, Rileigh Peterson, Amelia Strong, Ezalia Strong, and Alexander Couch.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Al MacQueen, and former Rockford Peach, Sophie MacQueen, and brother, Robby Strong.
Funeral services will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene Friday June 16, 2023. Visitation is from 2 - 4 PM, immediately followed by funeral services led by Pastor Rachel Smith.
