Linda "Mina" Montoya

April 15, 1949 — November 7, 2011

Linda 'Mina' Montoya, 62, of Freeport, received her wings and was ushered into Heaven on Monday November 7, 2011 surrounded by her family at FHN Memorial Hospital. Linda was born on April 15, 1949 in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Valeria Esther and Albert James Bollon. Mina worked as CNA in the Freeport area for many years and she loved her job. She loved to bake and express her love with food. She was known as the 'Cookie Lady' to many of her residents at work and her grand and great grandchildren never left her home without a bag of cookies. Family and friends were most important to her. Mina loved her husband, Rick Brown and her dog, Baby very much. She was selfless and caring to all and she embodied the true definition of compassion. She will be missed by all that crossed her path in life. Survivors include husband; Rick Brown, mother; Valeria Esther Bollon, two daughters; Brenda Jean (Montoya) Green and Tracey Lynn Montoya, one son; Anthony Eugene Montoya, two sisters Janice Bryant and JoAnne Grenoble, two brothers; Dennis and William Bollon. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mina was preceded in death by her father; Albert Bollon and brother; Gary Bollon. Memorial Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Barr officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs.
