Lillie B. Sanders

Lillie B. Sanders, 73, of Freeport, entered eternal Glory on Monday, January 16, 2012 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Lillie was born on January 31st, 1938 to George and Clara L. (Jones) Fane in Tippo, Mississippi. She was raised along with her 12 siblings. Lillie attended St. Luke School and she had the pleasure of working with her hands in the field and on the farm. Later Lillie married Matthew Sanders also from Mississippi. After beginning their new family, Lillie and Matthew moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1956. Throughout her life, Lillie served as a nurse for many years in Chicago. She was also a gourmet cook in her own right. Many would agree that her most memorable work was done in the kitchen. When she wasn'™t cooking for her large family, she cooked for the neighborhood, even the Harlem Globetrotters. When she was not cooking she could be found managing a small local restaurant. Lillie left to cherish her memories her long time companion; Johnnie Heard, her children; Robert (Jean) Fane, Larry (Gwendolyn) Sanders, Denise Sanders-Moore, Theresa Sanders, James (Anjuray) Sanders, Juliette Sanders, Julianne Jackson, Myrise Sanders all of Freeport, Annie (Mack) Allison of St. Louis, MO, Kattie Sanders of Rockford, IL, and Tyrone (Anita) Sanders of Chicago, IL. Joining in their grief are her sisters Betha Davis of Freeport. Georgia Sanders and Susie Dogan of Chicago. Also a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great- grandchildren,and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents George and Clara Fane, son L.C. Fane, daughter Ora Ellis, six brothers, and four sisters. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday January 21, 2012 at Faith for Miracle Deliverance and Worship Center, 3247 S. Baileyville Road, Freeport. Bishop James Wade will officiate.
