Lillian Rosemarie Lassandro, 93, of Freeport, died Wednesday November 5, 2014 after a brief illness. Born April 5,1921 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Leonardo and Margherita (Guasto) Oddo. She married Frank R. Lassandro at St. Anthony's Church in Rockford on September 26, 1943. Graduate of Rockford Central High School, class of 1939, and the Elite Beauty School in Rockford. She modeled clothing for Owens Department Store in Rockford. She worked at Lucy's Beauty Shop prior to moving to Freeport in 1954 where she partnered with her husband in operating Lassandro Distributing Co. Worked as a Librarian at Freeport Junior High School for many years, and upon retirement she and her husband Frank operated Lassandro Travel Service in both Freeport and Rockford. Lillian was an award-winning insurance agent and local chapter officer for the National Catholic Society of Foresters, and taught CCD classes at St. Thomas Aquinas School for many years. She served as a Precinct Committee woman and Election Judge for Stephenson County. Survivors include her sons Ross (Loretta) Lassandro of Park Forest, IL and Len (Colleen) Lassandro of Madsion, WI; daughters Marguerite Lassandro-McKinney of Rockford and Marilyn (Mark) Frederick of Underhill, VT; grandchildren Laura (Ed) Hosty, Aaron Lassandro, Lillian Maria (McKinney) Guzzardo, Will (Jaime), Josh (Twila), Joe (Sarah), and Christina McKinney, Ryan (Heather) Lassandro, Neil Lassandro, Ben Frederick, M.D., and Chris Frederick; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by beloved husband Frank in 1997; her brother Frank L. Oddo, and grandson Tony Lassandro. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday November 8, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
