Lillian Lucille Eberle Langlois, 100, of Freeport, died February 13, 2019 at Parkview Home. A lifelong resident of Freeport, she was born December 4, 1918 as the daughter of Albert Ernest Bailey and Lillian M. Kirchhefer Bailey. On September 21, 1940 she married Wesley A. Eberle in Freeport. He practiced law and served as a local Illinois Circuit Court Judge in Freeport for many years prior to his death in 1991. In September 1994 she married Karl H. Langlois in Freeport. He died in 1999. Lillian was a 1936 graduate of Freeport High School and attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Early in her life she worked at Furst McNess. She was a continuous member of First Presbyterian Church, later United Presbyterian Church, in Freeport since her childhood confirmation. Throughout her adult years she was very active in the Presbyterian Women's Association and the BE Chapter of PEO locally. An avid reader, she was a member of the local "20th Century Book Club." Other interests included, traveling, knitting, cooking and daily walks which most often were in her beloved Krape Park of Freeport. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her brother Albert E. Bailey, Jr. and her son-in-law William B. Goode, Jr. She is survived by her two children, Claudia Katherine Eberle Goode of Dallas, Texas and Todd Bailey (Harriet) Eberle of Prospect, Kentucky in the Louisville area; as well as stepchildren Kathy Langlois (Dennis) Dorn of Middleton, Wisconsin, Jean Langlois (Donald) Hayes of Appleton, Wisconsin, James (Mary) Langlois of Appleton, Wisconsin, Karl (Jeannine) Langlois of The Villages, Florida, and Lynn Langlois (Thomas) Mack of Appleton, Wisconsin. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Wilson (Jocelyn) Goode, Emily Goode (Jeffrey) Caso, Wesley B. Eberle, Martha Lillian Eberle (Andrew) Radecki, Erin (Kevin) Hayes, and Amy (Matthew) Kerkhoff in addition to seven great grandchildren. A private family interment was held at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport on February 23rd. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 1:30 in the afternoon at Parkview Home. The family will greet friends at 1:00 prior to the service. A memorial has been established in Lillian's name for the Freeport Public Library Foundation, 100 East Douglas Street, Freeport, IL 61032.
