Lewis H. Fransen

Lewis H. Fransen, 88, of Freeport, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Manor Court in Freeport. He was born September 11, 1926 in Freeport, IL, the son of John and Eureka (Lameyer) Fransen. He married Lola Cordes November 18, 1952 at Silver Creek Reformed Church in German Valley, IL. Lewis farmed from 1952-1968, worked at Furst-Mcness in 1969, then worked for the State of Illinois Highway Department from 1969-1990. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, and playing cards. Lewis is survived by his wife, Lola Fransen of Freeport, IL; his brother, Roger (Shirley) Fransen of Rockford, IL; his sister-in-law, Delores Fransen of Pecatonica, IL; three nieces, Susan (Roger) Schomber (also Godchild), Sandra (Jeffrey) Dolan, and Shelly (Jeffrey) Tillett; two nephews, Mark (Jane) Fransen and Michael (Kim) Fransen; and great-nieces, Chelsea Dolan, Brynna Dolan, Paige Fransen, and Taylor Fransen. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Robert (in infancy) and Harold (1996). Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 25, 2015 at Faith United Methodist Church 1440 S. Walnut Avenue in Freeport, with Rev. John Wesley Lee officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service also at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
