Lester Tietjen, 78, of Naperville, formerly of Stockton died February 7th 2014. He was born March 18, 1935 in Freeport, the son of Delia and Lester Tietjen. He was a graduate of Stockton High School. He married Leona Huber on July 4, 1959 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Freeport. They were residents of Princeville, IL, Richmond CA, Deltona FL and DeKalb IL. A United States Marine, Lester was employed as a salesman for Yeoman's Distributing Co. and other technical companies in California. He served as a President of the DeKalb Jaycees, a Big Brother (to foster children) and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Cursillo Catholic Retreats. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Leona, sister Helen Franz and brother-in-law Roger Huber. He will be missed by his children Lisa (William) Diggins, Crest Hill, IL and Patrick (Rebecca) Tietjen, Naperville IL, his grandsons Will and Alex Diggins and Jacob and Benjamin Tietjen, sister Mary Ann (Don) Merrill, Sterling, IL, brother-in-law Charles Franz, sisters-in-law Marcia (Don) Sorn, Monroe, WI, Phyllis Wahler, Richardson, TX as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss his outgoing personality and loving heart. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Tuesday February 11, 2014 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Avenue Freeport, Il. A funeral mass will then be held at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church 229 W. Washington Place, Freeport, IL, with Father Timothy Barr officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Gary Sinise Foundation, supporting our veterans and first responders, would be gratefully accepted.
