Leroy "Roy" D. Hayes

LeRoy "Roy" D. Hayes of Forreston, IL passed away May 8, 2021 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL, due to congestive heart failure. Roy was a 1955 Polo graduate. He served in the Army and returned home to farm with his parents Kenneth and Ruth (Meister) Hayes. In 1970 he became site superintendent at Lowden State Park, retiring in 2002. He married Marian L. Weegens on July 22, 1961, in Forreston. Over the past 60 years they raised 3 daughters and a flock of nationally recognized Dorset sheep. Roy enjoyed traveling and local live music events. He is survived by his wife, Marian; daughters Tamara (Wes) Martin, Oregon, IL; Melissa (Ron) Hayes-Brechon, Cave City, AR; and Heidi (Jim) Lauber, Heath, TX; 5 Grandchildren; 5 Great-grandchildren, and a sister Sheryl (Randall) Lunz. A private family service was held, with burial at White Oak Cemetery.
