Leroy Johnson

Mr. LeRoy Johnson, 70, of Freeport, died Monday, October 15, 2018 at FHN Memorial Hospital. LeRoy was born October 12, 1948 in Kosciusko, Mississippi, to the late Katie Fagan and the late Thomas Johnson. He received his education at Greer High School in Thomas Town Mississippi. He accepted Christ at an early age at Gailee Baptist Church. He later joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Roy loved to go fishing, hunting, bowling, and watching the Chicago Bears play football. Most of all he loved playing basketball with the boys and most of the time he won. He was united in Holy Matrimony with Miss. Ida B. Smith on August 8, 1970 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To this union three children were born, Gregory(Cambrian) Johnson, Jennifer (Richard) McGee, Latejal (Tobias) Newnum; five grandchildren, Brandon, Savanna, Tommy, Alexis and Isaiah; great-grandson, Daxton; sisters, Katie Cross of Freeport, Mary Fagan of Mesa, Arizona and Pat (Bob) Jackson of Altamonte Spring, Florida; two brothers, William (Marilyn) Fagan of Waterloo, Iowa and Alan Fagan of Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, grandparents, brother, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday October 20, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs.
