Leota May Short

Leota May Short, 84, of Freeport died September 13, 2018 at Pearl Pavilion. She was born August 23, 1934 in Gary, IN the daughter of Charles and Florence (Shear) Taylor. On January 13, 1954 she married Clark Short in LaValle, WI. Leota was employed at the Holiday Inn in Freeport for many years. She was a member of the Richland Free Methodist Church for many years. Leota enjoyed sewing, walking her dog and spending time with her family. Surviving are her two sons William Clark of Freeport and Michael Short of the state of Oregon; four brothers Kenneth Taylor, Wesley E. Taylor, Peter "Bill" Taylor, Charles W. Taylor Jr., three sisters Hattie L. Keister, Margaret Covey and Charlene Bowers; and two grandchildren. Leota is preceded in death by her husband, daughter Lois Short, granddaughter Kristy Jo Short, and one brother. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 18, 2018 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery.
