Leo Lester Rackow

Leo Lester Rackow, 84, of Freeport, died Thursday November 24, 2011 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Leo was born on December 12, 1926 in McConnell Illinois, the son of Lester H. and Edna C. (Kortman) Rackow. On September 10, 1950 Leo married Delores I. Kneller at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, with the Rev. C.J. Schuth officiating. Leo worked as a farmer for many years. Leo also did painting, wallpapering, and shrub work. Leo was a Trustee of the Grandview Cemetery for over 30 years. He was a Church Custodian from 1982-1994 for Our Redeemer. Leo was also Vice President of his Condo Association. . Survivors include; wife; Delores Rackow of Freeport, two sons; Larry (Cynthia) Rackow of McConnell and Ronnie (Sandra) Rackow of Polo, one daughter; Connie (Michael) Arn of Freeport, three brothers; LeOwen (Joyce) Rackow of Lena, Eldon (Lucille) Rackow of Orangeville and Melvin (Vanette) Rackow of Freeport, one sister; Violet Witt of Freeport. Also surviving are six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Leo was preceded in death by parents and one infant sister. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday November 29, 2011 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, with Pastor Stephen Precht officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
