Leo Joseph Chambers

Leo Joseph Chambers, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday February, 2, 2012 at Provena St. Joseph Home. Leo was born on August 10, 1935 in Freeport the son of Leo J. and Margarette (Wolfe) Chambers Sr. On May 15, 1964 Leo married Irene A. Hunt in Freeport. Leo was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked at Kelly Springfield for 35 years and then at Deiningers Flower Shop for 10 years. He was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Highland Cougar fan. Survivors include wife; Irene Chambers of Freeport, two sons; Gregory L. Chambers of Freeport and James L. (Jennifer) Chambers of Janesville, Wisconsin, two daughters; Mindy J. Chambers of German Valley and Amanda R. (Bret) Rogers of Cedarville, two sisters; Nancy Sager of Freeport and Barbara (Roger) Wisdom of Lubbock, Texas. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Loren Chambers and Clarence Bunnell and sister; Shirley Shields. Private family services will be held. There will be no visitation.
