Leo H. Borgmann

Leo H. Borgmann, 75, of Freeport and former Leaf River area resident died Sunday at Provena Saint Joseph Center, Freeport. He was born January 29, 1937 in Egan, Illinois the son of Herman and Harriet (Alden) Borgmann. Leo married Harlene Copus on January 7, 1977 in Oregon, Illinois. She died September 17, 2003. Leo farmed in the Leaf River area and also was employed by Twin Disc of Rockford and Dail Machine also of Rockford. Leo was a member of The Stephenson County Antique Engine Club, a member of Prairie Farmers and a former member of the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge. He enjoyed Antiques, Lionel Trains, Oliver Tractors and toy collecting. Leo also enjoyed lawn mowing and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Borgmann is survived by his three sons; Bob(Betty) Borgmann of Byron, Greg (Susan) Borgmann of Ohio, Illinois and Steve Borgmann of Rockford. His daughter; Lori Borgmann of Lawrenceburg, Tn. His brother; Roger (Linda) Borgmann of Cookeville, Tn. His sister; Ida Mae (John) Reed of Davis Junction, Illinois. His sister in law Dorothy Borgmann of Leaf River, Illinois. His special friend; Nancy Baptist of Beloit , Wisconsin. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his brother Roy; and his son Randy who died October 24, 2010. A funeral service for Mr. Borgmann will be Thursday, 10:30 A.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Ave., Freeport. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4:00-7:00 P.M .at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport and from 9:30 A.M. until time of service Thursday at Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be in North Grove Christian Cemetery, Egan, Illinois. A memorial has been established for The Leonard C. Ferguson Cancer Center, Freeport.
