Lenard Parks, 79, of Freeport, died Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph. Lenard was born September 20, 1938 in Marianna, Arkansas, the son of John H. and Bertha (Randall) Parks. He married Bessie Allen on November 6, 1956 in Forrest City Arkansas. Lenard was a member of Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ. He worked for Burgess Battery and Kelly Springfield. Surviving are his wife, Bessie Parks; four sons, Leonard (Judy) Parks of Freeport, NuJurnor (Cindy) Parks of Kalamazoo, MI., Spencer Parks of Los Angeles, CA., and Ronald Parks of Seattle; daughter, Jackie Parks of Freeport; brothers, John (Eva May) Parks, Melvin (Judy) Parks, Eugene (Eldora) Parks and Leo Parks; sister, Ethel Parks; three sister-in-laws, Emma (David) Clark, Linda (Derry) Tyler and Dorothy Allen. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Lenard was preceded in death by parents, and his two brothers. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 24, 2018 at Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ. Dr. Charles Washington will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Lenard's memory.
