Lawrence "Larry" W. Meier

Lawrence "Larry" W. Meier, 74, of Freeport, passed away Monday September 12, 2016 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. Larry was born May 18, 1942 in Freeport, the son of Chester A. Meier and Gladys W. Huber. He married Sharon Sturtevant on March 16, 1962 in Freeport. Larry was employed at Freeport School District 145 for many years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors at the local parks. Family was a very important part of his life, especially his children. He is survived by his wife Sharon Meier of Freeport; daughter Pamela Meier of Freeport; son Robert (Sarah) Meier of Freeport; grandsons Daniel (Maia) Meier of West Allis, WI and Brandon Meier of Freeport; and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Monday September 19, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Brian LeBaron officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in his memory.
