Lavon Iona Wilhelms

Lavon Iona Wilhelms of German Valley, IL passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Maple Glen Assisted Living Center in Glen Ellyn, IL. She was born February 15, 1927, the daughter of William and Grace (Wieman) Leerhoff and graduated from the Pleasant Prairie Academy in German Valley, IL. She married Marsden Wilhelms on October 22, 1946. They farmed together on South Holland Church Road for over 40 years. They retired and moved to German Valley in 1989. Lavon was active in the Grace Valley church community for many years.

She is survived by her children Stephanie Wilhelms (Paul Dillon) of Truckee, CA, Kathleen Fincher of Castle Rock, CO, Kevin (Julie) Wilhelms of Centennial, CO, Tracy (Newell) Jennings of Wheaton, IL, Lyndon Wilhelms (Pietro Savarino) of Hanau, Germany. She enjoyed her grandchildren Aaron Fincher, Janaka Dillon, Nicole Wilhelms (Shane Beers), Kristen Cook (Scott), and Quinn Jennings (Amber Asbach) and her great-grandchildren Liliko’i Dillon, Ohia Ai Dillon, Charles Rivenbark, Madelyn Cook and Ava Cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Lucille (Diddens), and brothers Merlin and Dick.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Grace Valley Christian Reformed Church in German Valley. Rev. Eric Schlukebir will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Grace Valley Christian Reformed Church. A memorial has been established in her name.
