Laurence Edward Peck

Laurence Edward Peck, 92, of Freeport, died December 22, 2014 at Freeport Health Network Hospital in Freeport, IL. He was born April 25, 1922 in Klondike, WI, the son of Edward T. and Margaret (Gabriel) Peck. He married Betsy J. Luedeking on February 23, 1946 in Freeport, IL; she died on July 6, 1982. On February 4, 1985 he married Jeanne K. (Greenfield) Groves; she died on March 22, 2011. Laurence was an Accountant and Tax Consultant. He was associated with Lundgren Callahan & Van Osdol, Certified Public Accountants in Freeport, IL. He was a graduate of Aquin High School and Brown's Business College, majoring in accounting. Laurence served in World War II overseas with the 8th and 9th Air Force He is survived by two sons, Thomas C. (Mildred) Peck of Rockford, IL, and Richard W. (Barbara) Peck of Minocqua, WI; two granddaughters Lisa K. (Jeff) Demuth of Roscoe, IL and Jennifer L. (Nick) Ruetz of Mount Pleasant, WI; four great-granddaughters Helen Frances, Tessa Hope, Sophie Rose Demuth, and Adelyne and Rose Ruetz; two sisters, Lola Mae (Don) Franz of Green Bay, WI and Lucille (Robert) Germain of Milwaukee, WI. He was preceded in death by one grandson Todd Peck (1/13/68-3/5/76) and his brother Lionel (Eileen) Peck of Wild Rose, WI. Laurence was an avid Packer fan and a long standing member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. He was a life time member of American Legion, AMVETS, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also held a private pilot's license and flew his own plane for many years. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 27, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth Anderson, pastor officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
