Lauren E. Frederick

Lauren E. Frederick, 88, of Freeport, and formerly of Forreston, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Liberty Village in Manor Court of Freeport. Lauren was born November 26, 1927 in Carroll County, the son of Oris and Anna (Kramer) Frederick. Lauren served in the United States Air Force from 1944-1948. He married Lois L. Leisson on June 8, 1952. Lois passed away on August 10, 2000. Lauren then married Violet Hiteman on April 26, 2003. Lauren was a graduate of Illinois State University. He taught at Leaf River and Forreston High School for 13 years and at Sauk Valley Junior College for 20 years. He was also employed at Forreston Hardware and volunteered at Freeport Health Network. Lauren was a former member of Forreston United Methodist Church and a current member at Freeport United Methodist Church. He sang in the choir at both churches. He was also a member of the Audubon Society. Surviving are his son, Mark Frederick of Forreston; wife, Violet Frederick of Freeport, and her two daughters, Cheri (Daniel) Frisbie of Freeport and Melodie (Jim) DeWall of Oregon, IL; and one sister Alice Ann (Howard) Redding of Indiana. Lauren was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Lois; two sisters, Yvonne and Carol Lynn; and one brother, Phillip. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 9, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, 503 West Lily Creek Road, Freeport. Rev. Calvin Haines will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, rural Forreston. A memorial has been established in Lauren's memory.
