Larry L. Donmeyer

Larry L. Donmeyer, 80, of Freeport, IL passed away Friday July 22, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 30, 1941 in DeKalb, IL to Merrill and Betty (Knicely) Donmeyer. In 1964 Larry joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. Larry served on the Freeport Fire Department for 21 years. After retiring from the Fire Department, Larry was employed at MetLife and Hometown Realtors. Larry married Sue Brauer on August 30th 1969 in Freeport IL. Sue passed away August 17th 1993. On August 4, 2012, Larry married Linda Watson in Las Vegas NV. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport. Larry was a member of the Freeport Eagles Club and a lifetime member of the VFW. His hobbies included golf, bowling and attending Music on Chicago. Larry loved old time rock n roll. He is survived by his wife Linda Donmeyer of Freeport, IL; son Joel (Lisa) Donmeyer of Freeport, IL; daughter Andrea Donmeyer of Freeport, IL; brother Jerry (Betty) Donmeyer of Freeport, IL; sister Sharon (Skip) LaBorde of Freeport, IL; grandchildren Betsy Knipshield, Liam Roberts and Kaelan O'Brien; step- children Tammy (Jason) Wilhelm, Teresa (Steve) Whalen, many step-grandchildren and great grandchildren,nieces and nephews; and his close companion Chloe. Preceding him in death are his parents, first wife Sue and brothers Steven Donmeyer and Ron Mathews. Memorial services will be 10:00 am Thursday July 28, 2022 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held Wednesday July 27, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. The family requests friends and family to write down a favorite memory or story of Larry. Burial of cremated remains will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
