Larry Clifton Jones

Larry “Boo” Jones was born December 26, 1957 to two loving parents, Willie H. Jones and Annie L. Thompson Jones in Chicago, IL. Larry attended James Madison Elementary and Hirsch High School on the South Side of Chicago, IL.

Larry devoted his younger years as a laborer but he had an astounding and unconditional love for family. Despite no biological children of his own, he made it his mission to take on the role of a “bonus parent” in assisting with the upbringing of his niece, Latisha Therman (Domonick Sr.). And even into his later years with great nieces: India Wrice, Deasia Therman, D’Lylah Therman, & great nephew Domonick Therman Jr. Larry’s love was not only extended to family, but to friends and confidants all over. So much so that his Freeport friends and neighbors named him “Grady” (Sanford & Son). His sense of humor was one of the kind. He knew how to muster out a smile from anyone just from some of his funny outbursts and colorful language!

Larry found solace in simple things. Such as taking long walks, contributing to the upbringing of his nieces and nephews; watching his favorite TV shows and Soap Operas.

He is survived by his five brothers Melvin B. Jones, Pete (Keona) W. Goodson, Lamont (Arlene) Goodson, Joshua (Sandra) J. Jones, and Charles E. Jones; seven sisters Barbara A. Jones, Gloria J. Jones, Darlene “Bald Baby” Jones, Willene Pointer, Lillian (Luther) M. Jones-Black, Pamela E. Jones, and Tracey S. Jones-Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Willie Henry Jones, mother Annie Louise Jones, and brother China Maurice Jones.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Saturday November 9, 2024 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. A memorial has been established in his memory.
