L. Robert "Bob" Lapp

L. Robert "Bob" Lapp, age 91, passed away Sunday January 26, 2025 at Parkview Home in Freeport, Il. Robert was born in Lancaster Township on June 10, 1933 to Rolla and Geneva (Bokemeier) Lapp. He graduated from Dakota High School in 1951 and then began farming.

Robert married Joyce Klaas on October 28, 1956 at Salem Church in Eleroy, IL. They celebrated 66 years of marriage together. Joyce passed away on June 24, 2023.

Farming was a life-long passion for Bob. He grew peas and sweet corn for the Green Giant/Pillsbury Company for many years. He was a member of Stephenson County Farm Bureau. A favorite hobby was going to toy shows and collecting replicas of the tractors he owned, with a highlight being a trip to the Ertl Company in Dyserville, lowa.

Family was a priority for Bob. He took an interest in everyone's activities and looked forward to celebrations and enjoyed attending a host of events. In his earlier years, he was an avid bowler, being in several bowling leagues.

Following retirement, Bob and Joyce moved to Freeport. He was a 60+ year member of Faith United Methodist Church. After retirement, he volunteered for various projects at church, including delivering Meals on Wheels.

Robert is survived by daughters Linda Trickel and Sharon Kornfeind, both of Freeport; grandchildren Amber (Shawn) Strohecker of Freeport, Ashley (Aaron) Huston of Ortonville, MI; and great-grandchildren Kaiser Huston and Tinley Huston, of Ortonville, MI.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Joyce, his parents, brother, aunts, uncles and cousins.

We are grateful to have had him for our Dad, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, and he will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday January 30 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Chaplain Jeremy Heller officiating. A visitation will be from 10:00 Am until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. A memorial has been established in Robert’s memory.
