Kody Allan Newman

October 10, 2000 — December 30, 2022

On Friday, December 30, 2022, Kody Allan Newman, 22, was tragically taken from his family and friends too soon. Kody was born in Monroe, Wisconsin on October 10, 2000. He was born to his loving parents Adam and Stacy (Meyer) Newman. Kody lived in Montana with his mother in his younger years and then returned to Freeport to live with his father. Wherever he was at, Kody was surrounded by his family. Kody attended and graduated from Freeport High School in 2019. He was always a proud Freeport Pretzel. After high school, Kody worked for a few different employers before finding his passion in music. Kody loved his heavy metal music and would do anything to attend a heavy metal concert. He loved attending concerts with his dad, his friends and especially with his best friend Zack Parkinson. Kody loved being the front man singer for his band, Backhand Betrayal. Kody was so excited about his first 5 song album coming out this spring. Kody had a love for music and his ability to write and create songs for his band to perform was an amazing talent. There were many family 4th of July parties where Kody arrived with his karaoke machine and provided entertainment for his friends and family. The other passion in Kody's life was hockey. Kody loved the Rockford IceHogs and Chicago Blackhawks. Kody spent hours at the Read Park Ice rink playing hockey and just hanging out with his friends. He was fortunate to go to a Blackhawks game with his dad, his stepmom Angela (Gustafson) Newman and his brother Tristan. They sat in the front row on the glass, and it was an experience of a lifetime. He also attended many IceHogs games with his friend Zack. Kody was preceded in death by his Grandparents Dave and Tina Meyer, his Papa Larry Slick, and his Grandpa Al Newman. Kody leaves behind his father Adam (Angie) Newman and his mother Stacy (Meyer) Newman and friend Jeff; brother's Zach, Tristan, Camden, Zachary, and Joshua; sister's Kai, Autumn and Leah; Grandmother Ellen Slick and his best friends Zack Parkinson, Marcel Schubert, Isaiah Burk, Malcolm Jefferson and Nikoli Sunmew. Kody also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation is on Saturday January 7, 2023, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.
