Kenneth J. 'Pete' Mordick, 83, of Freeport died Tuesday in his home following a brief illness. He was born January 9, 1930 in Freeport, Illinois the son of Francis and Mary (Meyers) Mordick . Mr. Mordick served with the United States Navy during the Korean conflict and the Japanese occupation. Mr. Mordick was a retired fireman for the Freeport Fire Department. He was also a self employed carpenter. Pete married Joyce Stockton on September 14, 1994. He enjoyed being on the Pecatonica River, fishing and spending time with his friends. He was a member of Eagles Club 679. In addition to his wife he is survived his daughters, Merry Kay Cassidy; of Bakersfield, Ca. and Jodie (David Dornink) Venditti; of Dakota. Two brothers, Donald (Rose) Mordick and Robert 'Butch' Mordick; both of Freeport. And his grandson, Tug Dornink of Dakota. He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters and his son, Kenneth J. Mordick, Jr. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 4, at 2:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport.
