Kenneth E. Shipman

Kenneth E. Shipman, 81, of Freeport, died Sunday April 9, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Center. Kenneth was born May 30, 1935 in Grand Detour Township (Ogle County) the son of Galor and Dorothy (Rhodes) Shipman. He drove semi truck for Karl Heeren Trucking for many years which he loved doing. He was loved and liked by many and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He never had a problem starting a conversation with someone he had just met and would never forget that person's name. Surviving are his daughter, Kathi Garrett of Freeport; six brothers, David (Mary Ann) Shipman, Robert (Rita) Shipman, Allen Shipman, Steve Shipman, Gary (Ruth) Shipman, and Donald (Camille) Shipman; and four sisters, Judy (Jimmy Coffee) Shipman Janey Shipman, Janet Johnson, and Karen Shipman. Also surviving are his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many of his nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edwin; son, Tom Shipman; and two daughters, Tonja Sue Shipman and Kenne Rae Stewart. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday April 14, 2017 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in Kenneth's memory.
