Kenneth E. Lenoir

August 15, 1934 — March 22, 2017

Kenneth Eli Lenoir died Wednesday March 22, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born August 15, 1934. He was the fourth child of twelve children born to Eli Allen Lenoir and Romania Dallas Lenoir. He married Carolyn McGee into the Lenoir family on December 16, 1963. He treasured her profoundly and lovingly called her "Baby Doll." Kenney, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, attended Freeport High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he received an Honorable Discharge November 30 1962. He was very proud of the time he served his country and often talked about the fond memories he had. Kenney was not one who was afraid of work; in fact, many who knew him referred to him as a "Jack of all Trades." He was employed at Structo and Burgess before entering his career at Kelley Springfield February 24, 1964, where he remained a dedicated employee for 35 years. After retiring from Kelley's he worked for enjoyment at Royal Pub. He enjoyed landscaping and "dipping and dappling" with all types of technology. He secretly practiced playing games on his X-Box because he was determined that no opponent would prevail: no matter the age. He also enjoyed taking trips to Mississippi, where he enjoyed fishing. He would slip out early in the morning ensuring that he caught the "Biggest" fish. Most of all Kenney enjoyed being the "Memory Keeper" for all family as well as friends' events. Kenney leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of 54 years; one daughter, Loretta (Garland) Pruitt of Freeport; one grandson Irin (Meri) Pruitt, three grandchildren: Zoria, ZaNeya, and Caleb all of Dallas, TX; one brother, Clinton (Willa Mae) Lenoir, Aurora, Colorado; three sisters, Cynthia Carter, Joyce Pruitt, and Eva Craig all of Freeport; four sisters-in-law: Mable McGee and Shirley Farrar of Freeport; Sharron Dear, Quitman, MS, and Rosie McGee-Brown, Clarksdale, MS; five brothers-in-law: Carroll McGee, Willie (Gwendolyn) McGee and Gregory (Carolyn) McGee, all of Quitman, MS; Gary (Shelinda) McGee and Leroy McGee, Guaiter, MS, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Kenney was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Doris; and a devoted niece, Sandra. Kenney will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday March 27, 2017 at the First Church of God at 484 S Ottawa Ave in Freeport with a visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
