Kenneth E. DeBoer, Sr., 78, of Freeport, died Wednesday December 21, 2016 at Presence St. Joseph Center. He was born May 30, 1938 in Freeport, IL, the son of John and Marjorie (Schanney) DeBoer. Kenneth worked for the City of Freeport for over 30 years in the forestry department, retiring at the age of 55. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, and following the Denver Broncos and #17 in NASCAR. Kenneth is survived by his two sons John (Julie) DeBoer of Freeport, IL and Kenneth (Rachel) DeBoer, Jr. of Fulton, IL; three daughters Theresa DeBoer of Freeport, IL, Kim (Scott) Feld of Baileyville, IL, and Kathleen DeBoer of Texas; his former wife Veronica DeBoer of Freeport, IL; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his good friends Ron and JoAnn Pasch and Jim and Barb Barkau. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Amy; two brothers; and one sister. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday December 27, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Bill Blomberg officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Monday also at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport.
