Kenneth Bear

Kenneth Bear, 94, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport, where he was a resident. Born on May 24, 1917, Kenneth Eugene Bear was the son of Edward and Bessie (Little) Bear. He grew up in Dakota-Cedarville area before marrying Irma E. Euler, July 7, 1939, in Dubuque, IA. Kenny and Irma farmed in the Orangeville area most of their lives. Irma passed away on October 3, 1991. Kenneth was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Freeport. He had retired from farming and then moved to Freeport. He married Genevieve McAllister on June 28, 1997. Jenny passed away on November 13, 2008. Kenneth enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by a son, Larry (Carolyn) Bear of Freeport and a daughter Norine (Stuart) Miller-Dailey also of Freeport; six grandchildren, Barb (Paul) Badger of Pearl City, Ardell (Mark) Signer of Monroe, Marci (Brian) Borchardt of Orangeville, Lisa (Greg) Cole of Ankeny, IA, Stacey (Jim) Brown of Freeport and Steven (Sonja) Miller of Davis; several great-grandchildren Megan (Justin) Benton, Matthew Bear, Kasey Signer, Amber Signer, Clarissa Borchardt, Courtney Borchardt, Lindsey O'™Brien, Daniel O'™Brien, Joseph O'™Brien, Anna Brown, Bryce Brown, Brody Kaiser, Kwynsee Kaiser, Karsyn Kaiser, Tim Cole and Kaitlin Cole; two sisters, Grace Hale of Freeport and Shirley Amodeo of Mississippi; two brothers, Robert (Joyce) Bear of Michigan and Delbert Bear of Freeport. Preceding him in death were his parents; wives; four sisters, Agnes in infancy, Margaret Butz, Pauline Schrademeier, Marian Nott and one son in law, Terry Miller. Funeral services will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Pastor John Hollis officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4-6 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs.
