Kendel E. Witte, 88, of Freeport, died Monday October 22, 2018 in his home. He was born August 2, 1930 in Freeport, IL, the son of Karl and Georgie (Sutterlin) Witte. Kendel married Virginia Miller January 4, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freeport. Kendel was a 1948 Freeport High School Graduate. He was the owner and operator of Witte Dye and Mold Works. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. from 1951-1953. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freeport. He enjoyed collecting tools. He loved dogs, and animals. Family was very important to him, especially his children and grandchildren. Kendel is survived by his wife Virginia Witte of Freeport, IL; sons, Kendel (Sue) Witte, John (Pam) Witte, Mark (Lanell) Witte, and Joe (Connie) Witte all of Freeport, IL; daughter, Mary (Greg) Williams, of Freeport, IL; brother, K. Edward (Linda) Witte of Freeport, IL; sister, Frances (Roger) Nelson of Muncie, IN; grandchildren, Sherrie (Mark) Plowman, Jason (Abbey) Witte, Michael Witte, Erin (Eric) Korte, Matthew (Bethany) Witte, Noell Witte, Lauren Witte, Carson Williams, and Alex Witte; and great-grandchildren, Grant and Drake Plowman, Brayson Witte, Jax and Ella Korte, Laken and Kellyn Witte, and Owen Witte. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter Hannah Williams. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday October 29, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Winkelman and Rev. Dr. Willis Schwichtenberg officiating. Visitation will be from noon-3:00 P.M. Sunday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Kendel's memory.
