Kay Frances Taylor Pugh, 77, of Freeport, IL, died on October 10, 2019 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loved ones. Kay was born July 30, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Booker and Frances Taylor. She attended DuSable High School in Chicago Illinois. Kay moved to Freeport when she was 18. Kay met the love of her life Ellis Pugh and was united in Holy Matrimony on April 16, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. To this union she was blessed with four children, Leslie Pugh, Anthony Pugh, Andrian Allen and Lezzette Green. Kay professed Christ at an early age; she was a member of St Catherine's Church until they closed. After St Catherine closed she visit different churches, before her illness she was going to make Faith Center Freeport her church home. Kay worked at the Freeport Country Club, Freeport Sheriffs Office, Club Esquire and Newell Rubbermaid where she retired from. Kay also did volunteer work at Freeport Memorial Hospital. Kay enjoyed reading, Golfing, traveling, cooking for her family (at times more than 50 on the holidays. She also enjoyed attending monthly lunch outing with her retired friends from Newell, giving to others, taking care of her family, watching old movies and history movies. Kay was an avid fan of Bruno Mars and loved to watch him sing and perform. She leaves to cherish her memories her son Anthony (Cheri) Pugh of Bloomington, IL., daughters; Andrian Allen and Lezzette (Terence) Green both of Freeport, IL., four brothers; Renard Taylor of Rockford IL., Gregory Taylor of California, Chris Taylor and Desmond Taylor both of Freeport, IL., two sister; Lezzette (Larry) Graham of Waterbury, CT., Claudette (Jackie) Eichelberger of Sacramento, CA., grandchildren; Tony (Keiandra) Pugh, Justine (Dominic) Morris both of Normal, IL., Isaiah (Hannah) Baker of Freeport, IL., Emmitt and Tamar Colone of Bloomington, IL., Andrea Felton of Indianapolis, IN., Troina Whitehead of Texas, Marquitta Allen of Cincinnati OH., Marcia and Marquia Green of Freeport, IL., Terence Green Jr. of Freeport, IL., Anthony Green of Arizona, great grandchildren; Malachi Pugh, Navaeh, Tovonte, Jakari, Daniyha, Mica'h, Terence III (Trey), and Amina. Her adopted children Ray Flowers, Vernita Allen and Sonja Davis. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Booker and Frances Taylor, husband Ellis "Harvey" Pugh, son Leslie Pugh, brothers Ronald Taylor and Tyrone Taylor, sister Constance Newton, niece Phyllis Newton, and nephew Tyrone Newton. Funeral services will be noon on Saturday October 19, 2019 at Faith Center. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
