Katie M. Threadgill of Freeport went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family Friday April 15, 2011 after a short illness. She was born July 29, 1948 in Courtland Mississippi. The daughter of Azzie Lee Sanford and Dan Tucker; raised by adoptive mother Eunice Gossett-Smith. Mrs.Threadgill recently retired as a Case Worker at Freeport Township after 25 years. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1967; and later received a degree in General Assistant. She was a present board member for the Martin Luther King Community Center. She served as a third ward committee person. Mrs. Threadgill devoted much of her time with her family, traveling, and was well-known for her various cakes and pies that she baked. Mrs.Threadgill was an active member of the Mt Caramel Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Mission Vice President, she was a faithful and dedicated choir member and she had a passion for working with people. Mrs.Threadgill was a true servant who loved the Lord. Mrs. Threadgill leaves to cherish many Loving memories, husband of 44 years Deacon Joe Threadgill, son Joseph (Tonetta) Threadgill of Nashville TN, daughters Lori A. Threadgill and Seleana D. Threadgill both of Rockford, IL; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mother, Azzie Lee (Laren) Sanford of Batesville MS, sisters Betty (Macon) Todd of Coldwater MS, Earlene (Jessie) Archie of Valdosta GA, Aggie (Solomon) Trantham of Batesville MS. brothers Dan Jr. (Nita) Tucker of Wichita KS, Mac (Julia) Jones of Memphis, TN and Steve Esther Young of Milwaukee WI; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Special nieces: Ellanor Fair-Harrell of Maywood IL, Seritta (Larry) Woods of Rockford IL, and Charlene (Robert) Jarrett also of Rockford IL. Special Cousins, Paula (Emmanuel) Brown of Chicago, IL and Pastor Calvin (Vickie) McGee of Freeport IL. Predeceased by adoptive mother Eunice Gossett-Smith, father Dan Tucker Sr., bothers William Fair and James E. Tucker and grandson Calvin Threadgill-Nichols. Funeral Services will be Friday-April 22, 2011 at 1pm in Mt Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 602 South Chicago Avenue Freeport IL with the Pastor Charles Threadgill Jr. officiating.
