Mrs. Katie B. (Felton) Pruitt, 80, of Freeport, Illinois entered Eternal Glory November 1, 2013 after an extended illness with family members by her bedside at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. Katie was born on July 25, 1933 to the proud parents Freddie (Hattie-Davis) Felton in West, Mississippi, Katie moved to Freeport in 1965. On June 19, 1989 Katie united in a Holy Matrimony to Thomas Pruitt. Katie attended her education at Highland Community College. She had a history of working in multiple manufacturing companies that allowed her to work skillfully with her hands. Her former employers Burgess Battery Co., Structo (Thermos) Co., Swiss Colony Corp., and she retired from Micro Switch (Honeywell) Co. Katie had special talents for plants (flowers) and gardening, she also had a special hobby for fishing. "If you teach someone to fish, they will always have a meal"." A good soul food meal is indeed what she prepared for her children (family), friends, neighbors, and strangers. Katie left to cherish her memories, six children, Frankie (Gloria) Williams of Alberdeen, MD. Gloria Fane, Helen Felton, Evelyn Felton, Kenneth (Theresa) Felton and Alvin Felton all of Freeport. Also left to cherish her memories, her step children, Tamilla (Rev. Rickey) Stidman, Lynette Gossett, Garland (Loretta) Pruitt, Kerry Pruitt, Randall Pruitt, Phelix (Felicia) Pruitt, Andre (Gina) Pruitt, and Julius Pruitt all of Freeport, Eric (Prose) Vonzell of Zion, Maurece (Tasha) Pruitt of Aurora, Co, three sisters; Etta Mae Ross, of Memphis, Tenn., Annie (Tony) Turner of St. Paul, MN., and Pearline Brown of Freeport. Four brothers, Johnny (Dora) Felton, and Marshall Felton both of West, MS. Woodroe Felton, Rockford, and Jimmy Davis of Freeport. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded her in death are her parents, husband, two sons, Charles Williams and John Felton, two daughters, Lisa Felton , Rosie Felton and one step-daughter, Yasmine King and one sister, Inez (Felton) Lowery. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 920 South Carroll Avenue. Rev. Rickey Stidman will officiate.
