Kathryn L. Weaver

Kathryn (Kitty) L. Weaver, 93, passed away on October 26, 2013, at Parkview Home. Kathryn was born November 8, 1919 to W. Floyd and Anna (Brimblecom) Stauffer in Polo, IL. She graduated in 1937 from Polo High School and married Wayne Weaver on November 8, 1939. Mr. Weaver died on April 8, 1982. Together they had one son, David. Kathryn was a charter member of the Buffalo Grange, Polo, IL. After moving to Freeport in March of 1951, she was a member of the Germania Club and Embury United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School from 1951-1961. She worked at Read-Weise Department store for 25 years and after retirement continued to work at New Spirit Dress Shop. Kathryn was a current member at First United Methodist Church in Freeport. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, reading, music and watching sports games on TV. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was able to spend a lot of time with them. Kathryn is survived by her grandsons; Mark (Julie) Weaver of Cedarville and Steven (Mary Pat) Weaver of New Lenox, IL; great-grandchildren, Karlie and Amanda Weaver of Cedarville and Michael, Matthew and Kaitlyn Weaver of New Lenox; nephew, Robert (Donna) Wolf of Dixon; nieces, Jeanne Novak of Painesville, OH., Joanne (Clifford) Smith and Theresa (Joe) Wolf of Dixon, IL.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Lubbs of Polo and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne; and son, David on March 16, 1993, as well as her sisters and brother-in-laws, Gladys & James Wolf and Frances and Emmerson Herbsleb; nephew, Roger Herbsleb and great-nephew, Randy Smith. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Blomberg will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill in Dixon. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Kathryn's memory for Freeport First United Methodist Church.
